Stress Management

"It's not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it."

- Hans Selye

Stress Management

Our living and working world has become more complex and compact. Globalisation and the use of new media require enormous engagement and constant availability.

More and more people are suffering from increasing time pressure and workload.

The recovery times are getting rarer and more difficult.

We are in stress!

Acute stress can be thrilling and exciting,

the chronic stress - the grinding stress - wears people away day after day, year after year and makes sick.

The worst aspect of chronic stress is that we get used to it. We forget it's there.

We are immediately aware of acute stress because it is new; but chronic stress we ignore because it is old, familiar, and sometimes, almost comfortable.

This means that our wellbeing and health can quickly deteriorate, which affects our quality of life and work.

However, what if we ignore the signals of our body?

It's like burning a candle on both sides until we're exhausted physically and emotionally. Just like the candle itself - we burn out.
